Reese Witherspoon
Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon, born March 22, 1976 is an American actress. Her many awards include an Academy Award, British Academy Film Award and Primetime Emmy Award. She also received two Golden Globe Awards. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 influential people around the globe in 2006 and 2015, and Forbes listed her among the World's 100 Most Powerful Women in 2019 and 2021. In 2021, Forbes named her the highest-paid actress in the world, with an estimated fortune of $400 million.Witherspoon began her career as a teenager, making her debut on screen with The Man in the Moon (1991). In 1999, Witherspoon made her first breakthrough in the role of a supporting role in Cruel Intentions. She was also known for portraying Tracy Flick as Election's black comedy. Her performances in Legally Blonde (2001 and its sequel 2003) as well as in Sweet Home Alabama (2002 ) brought her greater recognition. Her work was critically acclaimed, and she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role as June Carter Cash, in the musical biopic Walk the Line. After a downturn in her career during which Water for Elephants (2011) was her sole box office hit, Witherspoon decided to make her comeback, producing and perform in Cheryl Strayed, the drama Wild (2014). This resulted in her receiving a second Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Witherspoon is still working mostly in the field of television, and has performed and produced in a variety of female-led adaptations of literature under Hello Sunshine. They include the HBO drama series Big Little Lies (2017-2019) and the Apple TV+ drama series The Morning Show (2019-present) and the Hulu miniseries Little Fires Everywhere (2020). She won the Primetime Emmy Award in Outstanding Limited Series for the very first time. She also created the film adaptations of Gone Girl (2014) and Where the Crawdads Sing (2022).Witherspoon also owns a clothing company, Draper James, and she is involved with women's and child advocacy groups. She is a part of the board of the Children's Defense Fund and was appointed Global Ambassador for Avon Products in 2007. In that capacity, she also acts as chair honorary for Avon Foundation's charitable foundation that is dedicated to women's issues.
